Hello everyone! Peace and blessings!
It’s been a while since I’ve written a post, and I apologize. Without getting too detailed, life happened. I lost my joie de vivre and poof went my manga reading. However, lately, I’ve been reading again, and between work, manga, and school (yes, in that order) I’ve found that I want to write more about the psychology of anime and manga and its effects on us. That’ll be way later and with much more research, but there will be manga reviews in between.
I hope you’ll stick around and read everything Tobi, Toyin, and I have to offer – as well as listen to our podcast. Now, on to the article!

Synopsis: Miyuki Sanada had just been going through the motions until one night she came across a certain late-night anime that made her feel true passion for the first time in her life. She was so impressed by the production that she decided to become an animator herself! But was that really such a good idea? Harsh lessons and even harsher financial realities await as Miyuki strives to make her dream come true. (MyAnimeList.net)
This won’t be a comprehensive review of the manga, just my opinions on certain things. I’ve tried reading this manga a few times and never finished it. Not due to anything being wrong with the series, it’s amazing work! Some of the things I appreciated about it were the notes explaining each job the inbetweeners do while the manga gives an in-depth view of what it’s like working in an anime company. For those who don’t know, an in-betweener is an artist who creates the drawings in between the extremes of an action drawn by the animator, assistant animator, and breakdown artist. I also appreciated the main character, Miyuki, whose can-do attitude and asking the necessary questions to get her tasks done while she has no experience.
I wish I knew what I was getting into when I got this manga. It’s very informative about the animation process, and while I think it’s interesting, I think at the time was reading it, I wasn’t able to fully appreciate the content. That’s not to compare it to your regular shonen or shojo manga, as it is a drama/slice of life, it is very much something that can be eye-opening for those looking into animation.
What I will say is, I look forward to giving it another chance and hopefully reading past volume one to get the full experience of working as an in-betweener with our protagonist!
