2022 is almost here and so is the next anime season! These are the ones I’m looking forward to in the winter!
Returning Series
Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2
Air Date: January 9th
Where to watch: Hulu, Funimation, Crunchyroll

We are approaching the end of Attack on Titan! Attack on Titan is one of my favorite anime and I’ve been watching it since the beginning. However, I’m not sure if I’m ready for the end. The show has already caused a lot of stress, and I’m sure Season 4 part 2 is going to bring more. I have no idea where the show is going to go but I know it will be great regardless.
Synopsis (Funimation)
It’s been four years since the Scout Regiment reached the shoreline, and the world looks different now. Things are heating up as the fate of the Scout Regiment—and the people of Paradis—are determined at last. However, Eren is missing. Will he reappear before age-old tensions between Marleyans and Eldians result in the war of all wars?
The Case Study of Vanitas 2
Air Date: January TBD
Where to Watch: Hulu, Funimation, Crunchyroll

I watched the first half of The Case Study of Vanitas last summer season and I really enjoyed it! Seeing how the first half left off, the second part is where things seem to kick off. My favorite things about the anime are the funny characters and the dynamic between the main characters Noé and Vanitas. They have conflicting personalities that surprisingly (and hilariously) make them work well as a team. Looking forward to more in the second half. If you like stories about the supernatural set in 19th century France, this is the anime for you!
Synopsis (Yen Press)
Rumors revolving around The Book of Vanitas, a clockwork grimoire of dubious reputation, draw Noé, a young vampire in search of a friend’s salvation, to Paris. What awaits him in the City of Flowers, however, is not long hours treading the pavement or rifling through dusty bookshops in search of the tome. Instead, his quarry comes to him…in the arms of a man claiming to be a vampire doctor! Thrust into a conflict that threatens the peace between humans and vampires, will Noé cast in his lot with the curious and slightly unbalanced Vanitas and his quest to save vampirekind?
New Series
Love of Kill
Air Date: January 12th
Where to Watch: Crunchyroll

I had the chance to see the first episode of Love of Kill at Anime NYC and I’m already hooked! I like the interaction between the main characters, they also have conflicting personalities and intentions, which makes the anime a fun comedy. Looking forward to see where this story goes!
Synopsis (Yen Press)
She’s a professional hitman. And he… is also a professional hitman. And she’s his target. Caught in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse, will she fall first… or will he?
FreakAngles
Air Date: January 27th
Where to Watch: Crunchyroll

I have seen all of the crunchyroll originals so far, and haven’t been disappointed. I came across the trailer for FreakAngles and I instantly fell in love with the character designs. This anime is an adaptation of the FreakAngels webcomic written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Paul Duffield. Warren Ellis wrote the first three seasons of Castlevania; I love Castlevania so I’m expecting a good show. The story is set in post-apocalyptic London and in the trailer I also see a lot of Steampunk elements. I’m definitely looking forward to this.
Synopsis (Crunchyroll)
Welcome to Whitechapel: last bastion of humanity. Six years ago, the world “ended” in a single, apocalyptic event, trapping Great Britain behind a mysterious dome of purple energy. London’s last neighborhood has persevered thanks to the protection of the “FreakAngels” — a small group of psychically-powered twenty-three-year-olds. Their fragile peace becomes threatened, however, when an exiled friend returns, exposing past conspiracies and new conflicts within their fractured, makeshift family. Can Whitechapel survive?
FreakAngels sounds like a fun time. Steampunk and the character designs look great.
