Fall Anime Picks

Blue Period.

Air Date: October 9th, 2021

Where to watch: Simulcast weekly on Netflix

Source: Kodansha

I’m excited about this anime! I heard it will be a modern version of Arte, which is an artistic anime about art in the Renaissance period. I’ll definitely check this out and this anime will probably make me appreciate art more. It will also be premiering weekly on Netflix outside of Japan, the first anime to do so!

Synopsis:

Yatora is the perfect high school student, with good grades and lots of friends. It’s an effortless performance, and, ultimately … a dull one. But he wanders into the art room one day, and a lone painting captures his eye, awakening him to a kind of beauty he never knew. Compelled and consumed, he dives in headfirst—and he’s about to learn how savage and unforgiving art can be!

Demon Slayer – Entertainment District Arc

Air date: December 5th 2021

Where to watch: Crunchyroll

Source: Viz

This arc is my favorite arc of this series, partially because of this picture:

This takes place after the events of the Demon Slayer movie Mugen Train. Expect there to be more shenanigans, laughter, and sadness as always.

Synopsis:

Tanjiro and his friends accompany the Hashira Tengen Uzui to an entertainment district where Tengen’s female ninja agents were gathering information on a demon before they suddenly disappeared. In order to investigate, Tanjiro and the others disguise themselves as women to sneak in!

Jujutsu Kaisen 0

Air Date: December 24th, 2021

Source: Viz

This movie is a prequel to the anime and we would get to see the story about Yuta, a precious upperclassman at Jujustu High. I can’t wait to hear more about this character that we never see but often hear about in the anime so I’ll definitely check it out!

Synopsis:

The one-shot pilot of the supernatural exorcist adventure Jujutsu Kaisen! The story takes place a one year before Itadori’s time, focusing on his upperclassmen at Jujutsu High–Maki, Panda, Toge and Yuta Okkotsu (the MC). In Jujutsu Kaisen, we don’t see Yuta, but other characters often make reference to him and the incidents that occur in this volume. Yuta’s been brought into Jujutsu High by Satoru Gojo because he’s been cursed by his childhood friend, Rika. But this is no ordinary curse as she’s classified Special Grade. And because of her overwhelming strength, Yuta doesn’t know how to control or use her. Meanwhile, Suguru Geto is out to get Yuta Okkotsu, specifically targeting Rika to add to his own collection of cursed spirits he controls, setting up a showdown with his best friend-turned-enemy, Gojo.

Sword Art Online: Progressive Movie – Aria of a Starless Night

Air date: October 30th 2021

Source: Yen Press

This consists of the events of Sword Art Online from Asuna’s perspective. We would get to know more about how she entered the game and what she was like before meeting Kirito. We will also get to meet new characters! I can’t wait to get some of my questions about the origins of Asuna answered!

Synopsis:

One month after Akihiko Kayaba’s game of death began, the death toll continues to rise, two thousand players having already lost their lives to the ultra-difficult VRMMO world of Sword Art Online. On the day of the strategy meeting to plan out the first-floor boss battle, Kirito, a solo player who vows to fight alone to get stronger, runs into a rare, high-level female player. She gracefully dispatches powerful monsters with a single rapier that flashes like a shooting star in the night…
