Peace and blessings, and happy fall, everyone! Another great season of anime is coming, and it’s full of bangers. I’ll limit myself to only 7 anime this season because I am a busy psychiatry resident and currently studying for Step 3 (another medical licensing exam; please pray for me!). However, I will always be watching anime no matter how busy I am, so here are my picks!

Returning Anime

The Apothecary Diaries Season 3

Airs October 2nd on Crunchyroll

One of my favorite ongoing anime is back! If you have been following me, you already know that I love Apothecary Diaries so much that I cosplayed Mao Mao. Not only do I love the medicine in this, but also Mao Mao’s obsession with solving mysteries. I can’t wait for more.

Season 3 synopsis:

Maomao chases a new mystery, as whispers of famine and an immortal maiden lead her far beyond Li.

Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2

Airs October 20nd on Netflix

It’s been a couple of years since I watched season 1 of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, but this anime still holds a special place in my heart. If you decide to watch this, be prepared to cry. Season 2 seems to be based on new characters, so I hope this season gets a happy ending. I guess we’ll see!

Season 1 Synopsis:

A street kid tries to survive in a technology- and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.

Ranma ½ (remake) Season 3

Airs October 3rd on Netflix

IOne of my favorite rom coms by my favorite mangaka, Rumiko Takahashi, is back! Season 2 gave us more heartfelt moments behind the main couple. Will Ranma and Akane’s relationship progress??? I guess we’ll see!

Season 1 synopsis:

Ranma, raised to be a man among men, has a bit of a problem: he is half woman! While training in China he fell into a strange magic spring at Jusenkyo. Now, he is eternally cursed to change into a beautiful woman whenever he is hit by cold water, but that may be the least of his problems; his father has betrothed him to marry! There’s never a dull day for Ranma as he attempts to find a cure for his curse, train to become stronger, and grapple with the fact that half of himself may be more feminine than his fiancée!

Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2

Airs September 30th on HiDive

One of my favorite isekai anime is back! This anime is so underrated, and I want more people to watch it! I made a video reel about this before here: I can’t wait to see Fran grow stronger with her sword teacher!
Synopsis:

Some isekai protagonists are reincarnated as powerful warriors or skilled wizards, but our protagonist was reborn as a sentient sword! He’s taken up by Fran, a desperate girl fleeing evil-doers intent on selling her into slavery. With her new weapon’s help and guidance, she’s able to strike down her captors and secure her freedom. Together, the unconventional master-student duo embarks on an epic journey to liberate those in need and exact justice on the cruel of heart.

Tokyo Revengers Season 4: Battle of Three Deites

I’m also excited for Tokyo Revengers! The trailer for season 4 looks great and can’t wait to meet the three titans, more battles, and more heartfelt moments between Takamichi and Mikey!

Season 1 Synopsis:

Takemichi Hanagaki is a freelancer that’s reached the absolute pits of despair in his life. He finds out that the only girlfriend he ever had in his life that he dated in middle school, Hinata Tachibana, had been killed by the ruthless Tokyo Manji Gang. The day after hearing about her death, he’s standing on the station platform and ends up being pushed over onto the tracks by a herd of people. He closes his eyes thinking he’s about to die, but when he opens his eyes back up, he somehow had gone back in time 12 years. Now that he’s back living the best days of his life, Takemichi decides to get revenge on his life by saving his girlfriend and changing himself that he’d been running away from.

New Anime

Devils’ Crest

Airs November 6th on Amazon Prime

Seeing that this is by the author of Sword Art Online, I knew I would have to check this out. I love the premise of this anime, in that these kids get transformed into a world where they can’t differentiate between what’s real and what’s virtual. I can’t wait to see how this plays out!

Synopsis:

Yuuma Ashihara is playing Actual Magic, a virtual reality MMORPG, when it suddenly begins to fuse with the real world. While he tries to make sense of what’s happening, he runs into Sumi, one of his classmates. Before, she was one of the cutest girls in his grade, but she’s undergone a terrible metamorphosis—into one of the game’s monsters! From the author of Sword Art Online and Accel World comes a story beyond VR and AR, where game and reality are one and the same.

The premise of this anime got me hooked immediately. I would have never thought to propose to your assassin to stay alive! I now have to see where this goes!
