I’ve decided I’m going to keep reviewing this series until it gets the respect it deserves.

I want to add here, as of March 1st, it has been leaked that there’s a Kagurabachi anime coming. I will be on alert!

In this volume, we meet Hakuri Sazanami, who wants to help Chihiro infiltrate the Sazanami clan. We first met Hakuri in volume one, when Chihiro had his first fight. He was a prisoner when Chihiro was getting intel, and his first appearance in volume 3 is something I cannot wait to get animated.

Have I mentioned how much I love Chihiro’s sword?!

With Hakuri being the weakest of the Sazanami and born without sorcery, he was disowned by his family, but not after seeing what his family does. They both share a common goal — that the Rakuzaichi must be stopped.

Just as they leave, a threat from volume 2 appears — Hiyuki and Tafuku. While Tafuku uses their sorcery to close off the space for the two to fight, Chihiro makes it clear he has no intention of fighting or killing either of them or the other Kamunabi. His strength in this fight, and his drive to master his new techniques (including non-lethal methods), really show how much samurai spirit Chihiro has.

In volume 2, we do meet Kyora Sazanami. As I said in the first review, I’ve been taking my time reading the fight scenes. Chihiro and Shiba are EXACTLY who they think they are, and they move in tandem. If I haven’t said this before, I’ll say it again: the visuals are absolutely stunning. Their moments are cold, precise, and they move as a unit. I would love to know how, or if, they spar together using Shiba’s sorcery.

I really want this manga to be animated. This fight scene would have the world in a chokehold. I already have volume 4 in my possession, and I will make a special trip to grab the rest of the series!

Did you make it this far? Takeru Hokazono is a genius. You MUST buy this series.
