Spring Anime Picks

Salam, and happy spring everyone! Another great season of anime is coming and I can’t wait!  Many anime are returning this season, but my picks will mainly highlight new premiers coming this Spring. I also have to spend more time studying for a standardized exam this spring, but as you already know, I will still be watching some anime. Feel free to share what you will be watching this season ☺️

Here are my picks for the Spring Winter 2024 season:

Black Butler: Public School Arc

Airs April 12th on Crunchyroll

OMG Black Butler is back! I have been a fan of Black Butler since my early anime watching days, and I have been keeping up with the manga and their additional movies ever since. The Public School arc is one of my favorites because not only are their pretty boys, but also more school related shenanigans. I also can’t wait to see Ciel’s investigator skills again. This arc will be a great one 🙂

Synopsis (Yen Press)
In Victorian England it is commonplace for the rich and wealthy to have a staff, led by a head butler, to run their households; the Phantomhive Estate is no different. The young and demanding Count Ciel Phantomhive, child owner of a toy company, lives in the grand countryside manor. Sebastian is his head butler, and the epitome of perfection; he effortlessly and gracefully completes his day-to day chores and fixes the countless mistakes of the other employees. However, whilst on the outside all seems prim and proper, a more sinister secret lies just beneath the surface. Sebastian is in fact a demon bound by a contract with the young count; he will loyally serve and fight for him in return for his soul.

Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night

Airs April 6th on HiDive

This anime caught my eye because of its name, so I decided to check out the trailer and I was immediately intrigued. I love how it’s a girl centered music anime that gives off idol vibes. There might also be a cute relationship between two of the girls, maybe romantic? I can’t wait to find out!

Synopsis (ANN)
The young artist Yoru Kurage has been on hiatus ever since a certain incident. In reality, her name is Mahiru Kouzuki. She became traumatized by the pressure of being “special” and instead decided to live a normal, standard high school life. However, things change when she meets former idol Kano Yamanouchi. The strong-minded Kano “graduated” from center position in the Sunflower Dolls idol group, where she was known as Nonoka Tachibana. Along with VTuber Kiwi Watase, and talented musician Mei Kim Anouk Takanashi, the girls come together.

Kaiju no. 8

Airs April 13th on Crunchyroll

This is the anime that I am most excited for! I’ve heard about Kaiju no. 8 for years now and started reading the manga, but once I heard it was getting an anime, I decided to stop reading so that I can experience this story animated. I love how the main character, Kafka, is a 32 year old man and not your typical high schooler, and that he’s not in his best shape like the average person. I also love the character Kikoru who’s a powerful teenager, but can still make mistakes like any teenager would do. I can’t wait to start this!

Synopsis (Viz)

With the highest kaiju-emergence rates in the world, Japan is no stranger to attack by deadly monsters. Enter the Japan Defense Force, a military organization tasked with the neutralization of kaiju. Kafka Hibino, a kaiju-corpse cleanup man, has always dreamed of joining the force. But when he gets another shot at achieving his childhood dream, he undergoes an unexpected transformation. How can he fight kaiju now that he’s become one himself?!
