Summer Anime Picks

Summer is here! These are Anime that I’m excited for this season!

RE-MAIN (13+), Airs July 4th

This seems highly anticipated. Not only is it MAPPA but there is also a half Nigerian character!!! It also has Free! and Yuri on Ice vibes. Can’t wait to enjoy.

The anime’s story centers on Minato, a boy who stopped playing water polo due to a certain incident in the winter of his third middle school year. He picks the sport back up again with a new team when he starts in high school, but the fledgling team runs into many problems.

The Honor Student at Magic High School, Airs July 3rd

This is a spinoff of The Irregular at Magic High School. I watched that back in 2014 and enjoyed it. I will give this a try.

A century has passed since magic–true magic, the stuff of legends–has returned to the world. It is spring, the season of new beginnings, and a new class of students is about to begin their studies at the First National Magic University Affiliated High School, nickname: First High. A manga spin-off of the immensely popular light novel series The Irregular at Magic High School, The Honor Student at Magic High Schoolfollows the events of the original series as seen through the eyes of Miyuki Shiba, Tatsuya’s sister. The life of an honor student comes with a lot of expectations…and unexpected hidden feelings?!

The Case Study of Vanitas, Airs July 3rd

I read some of the manga and enjoyed it.

Rumors revolving around The Book of Vanitas, a clockwork grimoire of dubious reputation, draw Noé, a young vampire in search of a friend’s salvation, to Paris. What awaits him in the City of Flowers, however, is not long hours treading the pavement or rifling through dusty bookshops in search of the tome. Instead, his quarry comes to him…in the arms of a man claiming to be a vampire doctor! Thrust into a conflict that threatens the peace between humans and vampires, will Noé cast in his lot with the curious and slightly unbalanced Vanitas and his quest to save vampirekind?
